Muddy River Dachshunds strives to produce healthy, beautiful dachshund puppies with sweet family temperaments. Our dogs are some of the sweetest dachshunds you will ever meet! All dogs were screened by the kids and I for family temperaments before adding them to our breeding program! All of our breeding dogs are AKC registered, and the majority of our dogs come from Champion lineage, genetic tested or come from lineage of genetic testing.
Muddy River dachshunds usually range in size from miniature size (8-11 lbs) and tweenie size (12-15 lbs) however sizes can always vary because ALL dachshunds were originally bred down from standard dachshunds and years and years of genetics can always affect the size with any breeder, as well as many other factors within the first year of the puppy’s life. An honest breeder will never guarantee a size.
We are a small family owned and operated dachshund breeder located in south/central Texas, right on the border of Floresville and Poth, Texas. Directly south of San Antonio Texas. Located directly on the “muddy” San Antonio River. We are located about 40 minutes from the south side of San Antonio, and hour/hour half from downtown depending on traffic, about 2 1/2 hours from Houston and about 1 1/2 - 2 hours from Corpus Christi and coastal areas. We are a couple hours from Austin. We are about 4 hours from Ft Worth and Dallas areas. For clients who want to fly in, we can meet at the San Antonio airport (SAT) and can also recommend puppy nanny's if you need transport. We have sold dogs all over the United States as well as Canada and Mexico.
We raise cattle, raise and train horses, and exclusively breed dachshunds. Dachshunds are such a lovable breed....ALWAYS entertaining, and stubborn as a mule! 🤪
We came up with the name “Muddy River Dachshunds” because our dogs were always swimming in the San Antonio river, the pond, and water troughs and came back home filthy and MUDDY! 🤦♀️🤣
All of our puppies are raised like the children...spoiled ROTTEN! They are all played with daily. We live on a 140 acres and we have plenty of room for all of our doggies! You can see from our photos that my dogs are not kenneled up all day like many breeders. We do have kennels to separate dogs for breeding times and dogs in heat, however our dogs are never left up in kennels all day and night. Some leave them caged up all the time, it is sad. My dogs have large yards, and they are let out to run the ranch during the day. They will come back smelling like skunk 🦨😳 ....a few acrobatically climb up in the trees trying to catch cats or coons 🤦♀️....a few of our dogs like to ride along on the ranger, some lounge indoors on the couch all day, some herd, hunt and swim, and some like to bark at the cattle and horses ALL day! :) New litters are always raised indoors and are interacted with daily! We have a separate indoor nursery area for moms and babies! We make sure all our puppies receive excellent nutrition, they get daily socialization, and are wormed and up to date on vaccinations before leaving.

If you are looking for a cheap dog, I would suggest your local pound, vet, or Craigslist. I spend ALOT of money and time on my program, pups, dogs, genetics, vet bills, state inspection requirements, as well as our home facility so my pups will be on the higher pricing end.
I am more than happy to answer any serious inquiries and questions on a particular pup but we do have 3 kids, dogs, pups, horses, and cows 🤪 …I usually will respond best to emails or texts in between kids activities and caring for animals. We do not push sales on anyone, nor will I jump through hoop after hoop for a sale, usually these indicate a non serious buyer. We want our pups to go to good loving homes ONLY! Our pricing is firm, and we do not trade for pets or other items.🤣 🤦♀️ NO SOLICIATIONS by phone or email!
