❤️ What is the deposit?
Deposit amounts vary and are listed on the puppy tab under available puppies.
ALL DEPOSITS/PAYMENTS ARE NONREFUNDABLE and NON-MOVEABLE! NO EXCEPTIONS will be made!!! We are passing on other potential buyers/clients to hold the dog for YOU so be sure this is the dog you want before placing a deposit or paying in full, money will NOT be moved to other dogs and it will NOT be refunded for any reason you may have. (EXAMPLES) It will not be refunded because you change your mind, want to change dogs, can not get here to pick up the dog, job reasons, covid, illness, family issues, flight issues or just because. We clearly state this everywhere on the website and on the deposit tab at check out before placing the deposit or payment.
💗 What is the process on getting a puppy?
Our process is super duper simple! Puppies are either listed as paid in full to reserve or a Nonrefundable deposit must be placed to hold the pup and balance paid at pick up.
All puppies are first come, first deposit.

No Waiting List- which could be months or years out for certain colors
NO advance holds!I I do not like holding money without a puppy to apply it to.
After puppies are released to the website and a deposit is placed, we will be able to get all of your information off the deposit receipt for the puppy’s file. We do not do an application as we do not discriminate against people for having kids or other pets like some breeders do! I do not feel as though it is my place to judge anyone's household and question their responsibility when they can easily lie anyways. I’m not doing a background check 😂
Once a deposit is made, it will show SOLD OUT on the deposit tab or ON HOLD. The deposit link (the pink tab) is on each puppy's info box and applied to any balance remaining, if not paid in full.
PLEASE NOTE : Roughly 99% of our puppies are adopted off the website!
***You do not need to contact me and ask if a puppy is still available, if a puppy is listed on the website then he/she is currently available unless someone beats you to check out, which it should tell you sold out. I prefer not to hold puppies, so if you are not available during the dates listed please check with me first or wait to see if they are still available when you can pick up.
💙What is your pricing?
Price listed is firm!
I do not list pricing charts, HOWEVER If you are looking for a cheap puppy, I would encourage you to look at your local shelter, vet, newspaper or Craigslist. We spend a lot of money on our dogs and program as well as we are one of very few dachshund breeders licensed by the State of Texas and follow state laws and requirements, so our puppies will be priced on the higher end!
Puppies are sold as....
1. PET ONLY: Puppies are listed as pet only if available and sold as pets with no papers, no registration allowed, puppy is companion family pet, and you do not need to return any documentation for spay/neuter.
2. LIMITED AKC REGISTRATION: No breeding rights, Sold on a Spay/neuter contract. (My contract and guarantees are NOT Transferrable to someone else should you sell the dog!)These 2 conditions must be met: Return the contract signed that was received at pup pick up WITHIN 7 days postmarked by text or email (We give plenty of time to get this back to us, so no late exceptions will be made) AND provide proof of spay/neuter by a licensed vet BY 9 MONTHS of age, NO LATER!!! The spay/neuter paperwork needs to be turned in by email or text (as proof of receipt) by the 9th month of age, not months or days later. If no one returns the paperwork within 7 days of pick up, I will not be keeping the paperwork on this litter, and it will be recycled. The limited akc papers will only be ordered when both conditions are met and which usually takes a couple weeks to receive) and then emailed. Again, most people don't want or care about the limited papers but if you want the limited papers you will need to follow these 2 conditions on the contract! You can always elect to not neuter/spay your dog, that is totally fine, but we just do not provide limited akc papers. -Any AKC fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
3. HUNTING/ AGRICULTURAL PURPOSES. Dogs are bred for conformation. Dogs are bred for hunting. Dachshunds are exceptional hunting dogs and this was their original purpose.
4. No FULL AKC- no breeding rights are given

💜Once a deposit is placed, what’s next?
If a deposit is placed early on, then updated photos will be sent by email roughly every 7-10 depending on the age of the pup. We do not send videos, as these are very time consuming and we work hard on sending nice photo updates, not just basic photos from a phone like most breeders, if any.
💚What is offered with a pup?
Puppies come with a 48 hour infectious guarantee and a 1 year life threatening genetic guarantee from their date of birth. (See Muddy River Guarantees tab for more information) Since adults are always purchased AS-IS, this of course means they come with no guarantees. By making a deposit, you are agreeing to these policies!
We recommend all clients purchase pet insurance to cover your furry friend when they arrive to their new home. Many insurance polices will cover their routine care and emergency visits. For example: Safeco, Metlife, Nationwide and Progressive are a few companies that currently offer Pet Insurance. I would check online or direct for pricing and coverage. Dogs are just like humans, and can easily become ill or have an accident at anytime.
💗What colors and patterns do you offer?
The Dachshund can come in many colors and patterns. We will list an ESTIMATED description of their color/pattern under each puppy for sale tab. Of course as they grow this could change. We can not control color and patterns especially when they are listed as newborns/young pups as color will change all the way into adult hood. For Example, Alot of pups that look like reds but as pups grow they end up more of a cream color, and patterns/dappling changes and develops and moves as they grow. Some dogs go lighter, some go darker.
If you are set on a specific color/pup then we ask that you wait to place a deposit until 6-8 weeks when they have grown more into their color and coat and you can see if that color is for you. We make no guarantees on color as it is uncontrollable how puppies grow. Each breeder has their own opinion on coloring as well.
A dogs coloring will change naturally as they grow into adulthood and this is due to lots of factors... genetics, hair type, loss of puppy fur into their adult coat, pigmentation, allergies, hormonal changes, environmental changes, hair care, nutrition and so on. Color changes should be expected as a puppy grows. We will never guarantee a dog's permanent coat color for these reasons.
💛What size will my dog be?
We breed miniature dachshunds and tweenie size dachshunds. We do not breed toy, or micro dachshunds. I personally think the smaller they are the uglier they are, and they don't have good bone structure and you are sacrificing quality for the size. (Sorry but it's the truth!)
Also Keep in mind that Miniature Dachshunds were originally bred down from standard dachshund lines and there are lots of generations of dogs lines that factor into a dogs size that are not controllable. Sometimes they will bring a smaller size dog and sometimes they are a larger size dog, and sometimes you get a mix of sizes.
NO HONEST BREEDER WILL EVER GUARANTEE A SIZE! It is uncontrollable and I will never guarantee a size!
Breeders can have two 10 pound miniatures mate and produce puppies in a litter that at 1 year of age have adult weights of 6lbs -18 lbs all from the same litter. I have personally seen it happen, and it has a lot to do with each dogs past genetics/breeding lines, BUT ALSO the puppy’s lifestyle, growth factors, environment, exercise, immune system, and feedings. There are too many factors that can affect the size of a puppy during their first year of growth.
As an example…It’s like saying what size will a families kids be, based off the two parents….kids could be tall or short, fat or skinny, or you could end up with a mix. No one can predict this!
❤️What is your address and why is it not listed?
Muddy River Dachshunds has a registered Trademark with the United States of America, local business name filings, we are registered on AKC’s wesbite as well as inspected/passed compliance, and we are now registered with the State of Texas as a licensed breeder, inspected/passed compliance.
We do not list an address as we are not a storefront. Our puppies are raised at our home and I have had many dogs disappear , possibly stolen. We are not open like a storefront “Petco” for people to show up when they feel like visiting. We have 3 kids with activities and school. Since being licensed by the state, Pickups are now done in Floresville or in Poth, not at my residence for safety reason for my dog and family.
💕How do I know this is not a scam?
1, We are registered with AKC, inspected often and follow their rules and regulations.
2. We allow credit card for down payment. Most scams are having people wire money or send through apps, which if you don’t know or trust the person you should never do. I would advise against mailing money orders or checks as well.
3. We are proud to say we are a registered licensed breeder by the state of Texas which we require frequent inspections, rules and guidelines must be followed for the care of our animals. There are not many licensed breeders that follow the state rules, however we are proud to say that we are one of them!
4. We have a federal Trademark with our name.
💛Why buy a dog from a Texas State License Breeder?
Texas law now requires breeders to obtain a license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for anyone who breeds 5 or more adult intact female dogs. There are many breeders out there that are NOT licensed and breeding dogs illegally however we have been inspected by the State of Texas and we are required by law to follow the state guidelines for our housing, records as well as animal care. All of our dogs receive annual exams and exceptional care!
If you are buying a dog from a breeder who is not licensed, then they are probably selling dogs illegally unless they are a very very very small breeder. Most breeders with websites have more than 4 females, unless they are a side hustle. You can report unlicensed breeders to the State and they are offering rewards.
❤️Will you have puppies in the future of 2025 or 2026?
We do not know what we will have or what will be available so far in advance. Please check back to the website at a later date. About 60 days before you are ready to purchase.
💕What vet do you use?
We use Deason Vet in Floresville for all our vet services. They do all our state licensing, exams and puppy wellness.
💛Do you do waitlists?
No, we do not current do waitlists or subscriptions. We used to do it but now all pups are first deposit to hold.
💙I want a dog with blue eyes or dappled eyes?
Many times eye color can change on a dog up to a year. Many times puppies are adopted out even before their eyes open.
🧡Can you ship to another city or state?
Absolutely! We use a nanny service we have been using for years and highly recommend. However, you are welcome to use your own nanny service, and we would be happy to work with them as well.
Our puppies are purchased all over the United States. We do drop off at the San Antonio airport- no extra charge- if you want to fly in and out same day OR puppy flight nanny's can deliver from San Antonio airport to your international airport! -see blog for more info on shipping a pup.
❤️What is the cost of a nanny?
I do not book or quote nanny prices. Usually they run around $650 but these are all booked direct with the nanny service. The quote is based on their travel and their time. I can refer you to a nanny if you don’t have one.
💙When can my puppy ship with a nanny?
They must be 8 weeks of age in order to fly with most inflight personal nanny’s.
💗Can I fly in and pick up?
Absolutely, flights are fairly cheap to the San Antonio airport. I can meet for drop off at the San Antonio airport if you wish to fly in and then out. It’s a super simple easy process. I am however at least an hour from the airport, so we can only drop off between 9am and 3pm most days to avoid traffic through downtown and delays in getting there. We do not charge an additional fee for drop off.
💜Is your price negotiable?
No, pricing is firm. If we decide to lower a price, it would be on an older puppy at a later time. Puppies seem to sell in spurts, One day pups are available and the next day they are not. You snooze, you can miss out! We will not hold a puppy without a deposit. Also, we do not trade for services, or other objects or animals.
💚Have your dog lines been genetic tested?
We have spent a lot of money genetic testing our dog lines. While genetic testing does not guarantee there will never be an issue. It is one tool breeders can use to better the breed and try to pull dogs out of the program that are found to have issues.
💙Are your dogs kept in kennels?
Our dogs are kept inside and in large yards. We have acreage for our dogs to run and play. We do have covered kennels in buildings that I will sometimes use if the weather is bad or I have puppies I keep off the ground until fully vaccinated.
💛Do you breed other types of dogs?
No, We DO NOT breed a bunch of other breeds of dogs, our specialty is concentrated on one breed, THE DACHSHUND! Also known as hot dogs, wieners, oscar meyer dogs, sausage dogs, doxies, and weenie dogs to name a few :)

💚What colors do you produce?
Our dachshunds come in a rainbow of colors (check out our photo gallery or above) Dachshund colors such as….Black and Tan or Black and Cream, Isabella and Tan, or Isabella and Cream, Blue and Tan or Blue and Cream, Red tones like ee red to shaded reds, Chocolate and Tan or Chocolate and Cream and Shaded Cream and EE Cream. In addition to the beautiful colors, they can also come in patterns like dapples and piebald's!
♥️Can I come visit a puppy posted on the website?
We only do visits on puppies that are 10-12 weeks of age with at least 2 vaccines. We will never ever do visits on newborn puppies, as their immune systems are developing, mom does not want any strangers messing with her babies and I will not expose my puppies nor indoor puppy room to viruses or bacteria. I am super anal about germs and cleanliness.
🧡Do you sell adult dogs?
Yes, sometimes. ANY ADULT DOG DEPOSITS/REHOMING FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE! ADULTS ARE AS IS and ANY KNOWN CONDITIONS ON DOGS ARE DISCLOSED.

Some Quick notes:--
-We are never responsible for your transportation cost to get here to pick up the pup should something happen that delays the date that the puppy can leave, for example an injury, illness, or even just needing more time to grow and socialize.
-We are not responsible if there is a delay due to your air travel or nanny service issues, you must be understanding and flexible., and book direct with the nanny.
- I do NOT ask if you are driving in, flying in, taking a train, private jet, bus or magical flying unicorn. Obviously, this is none of my business! On all advertisements, I give the puppy info and rough pick up date for each pup. Most people do drive in, However, if you are flying in, The client is of course responsible for making their own flight arrangements and following their airlines guidelines and rules. We do not book flights or know each airlines or private jets policies. You fly with puppy at your own risk!

- Serious Inquiries only! No puppies will be sold to puppy mills, pet brokers, research facilities, pet flippers nor to pet stores...they are looking for FOREVER loving homes ONLY.
-While most clients I come into contact with are kind, wonderful to work it, and provide wonderful loving and caring homes to my dogs and puppies...Unfortunately, like with any business, we do come across people who are not kind, disrespectful and think they are entitled to make their own policies and rules. I will not bend to threats and demands.! We are a good family breeder and only the best will do for our pups! I am a very fair and honest licensed breeder, and I will not put up with crazy and rude people. We have the right to place puppies and deny anyone a sale at any time at our discretion without giving a reason!!! THEREFORE ...IF you do not like our policies, or don't feel comfortable with how we do things, then DO NOT place a deposit as I am not the breeder for you! I have posted more information and more photos than any other breeders’ website and I will not change how we do things. We are inspected and licensed by the state. Majority of these conditions/ guarantees listed are standard practice in the pet industry! There is a reason why we have policies in place. All policies and guarantees are firm.
